SatChart
Privacy Policy
This policy explains how SatChart may collect, use, share, and retain information when you use the app, website, support channels, and related services.
Overview
SatChart respects user privacy and uses information to provide account, map, Radio Group, subscription, support, safety, offline-data, logbook, and app features. The app is built for commercial fishing and maritime planning, where clarity about location sharing and data controls matters.
Information users provide
- Email address and verification status.
- Password credentials handled by Firebase Authentication; SatChart does not store passwords in plaintext.
- First name, last name, vessel name, radio display name, account/profile settings, and support messages.
- Subscription/account support communications and information you choose to include when contacting support.
Location information
Device location may be used to show your position on the map, select relevant tide/weather context, create optional one-time pins, and support optional Radio Group live sharing.
- Live location sharing is optional and can be stopped.
- One-time pins are optional.
- Radio Group sharing may be visible to selected group members.
- You can control location permission in iOS Settings.
- Location data may be cached or retained as needed for app functionality, depending on the feature.
- SatChart is not an emergency tracking system.
Radio Group data
Radio Group features may use group names, membership, roles, invite and join workflow data, shared pins, shared waypoints, optional live locations, display names, vessel names, and timestamps. Shared information may be visible to members of the selected group.
Waypoints and logbook data
- Local waypoints and shared waypoints when you choose to share.
- Fishing sets, deliveries, tender purchases, notes, receipts/images if captured, and fish-ticket or tally OCR fields.
- OCR images may be processed locally unless a later backend sync or support workflow is introduced.
- Some logbook and waypoint features may remain local unless cloud sync is explicitly enabled for that feature.
Subscription and transaction data
Purchases and subscriptions are managed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. SatChart may receive subscription status or entitlement information needed to provide access. SatChart does not receive full payment card details from Apple.
Device, diagnostics, and usage data
SatChart may use app version/build, device model, iOS version if provided for support, diagnostic logs or errors if diagnostics are added, network/update status, and offline pack versions to operate, troubleshoot, and improve reliability.
Third-party services
SatChart may use service providers and data sources such as Firebase Authentication, Firebase Firestore, Firebase Hosting, Cloudflare R2, Apple services/App Store/StoreKit, Apple MapKit, NOAA/NWS/NDBC/CO-OPS, NASA, Copernicus/Sentinel, and ocean or fishery data providers where applicable. Exact integrations may vary by app version and enabled feature.
